Our Films

Samira is a filmmaker, young mother, and wife who was uprooted from her home following personal threats made by the Taliban. Samira spends her days trawling the streets of Kabul, capturing stories most are too frightened to tell. At night, she, her husband, and one-year-old son shelter in a safe house.

On Sunday, January 16th, Samira received word that dozens of women were gathering to demand their freedoms. She risked her life to show up with a camera and later learned that many of those in attendance were arrested, brutalized and killed by the Taliban.

Hidden in her safe house while she waits to escape the country, she is using her talents and risking her life to tell the horrific story unfolding before her eyes.

After 20 years, the UN is convening to review Resolution 1325 and bring new discussions to the table. And these PEACEMAKERS want to be part of the conversation! Official peace processes traditionally exclude women and their experiences. More holistic and robust peace negotiations can be possible by diversifying participants. Six Israeli and Palestinian feminist peacemakers bring their candid and honest perspectives in this recent short film from THE 49% and THE KIVERSTEIN INSTITUTE.

UN Resolution 1325 calls for the adoption of a gender perspective to consider special needs of women and girls during conflict, repatriation and resettlement, rehabilitation, reintegration, and post-conflict reconstruction. Here, key female voices from within the Israel / Palestinian conflict share their wishes for sustainable change.

Gaslighting

Gaslighting is a topic you’re familiar with - whether you know it or not. Gaslighting is a form of verbal manipulation and emotional abuse. It is particularly dangerous when it is used to silence women. With many still quarantining at home with abusers, individuals are more susceptible.

With this in mind, we have compiled a resource page of organizations around the world that help women in abusive situations. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, we hope this will be a valuable tool and that you find a way to safely speak out.

We also recognize gaslighting is used by individuals and institutions to silence us on issues of racial injustice and discourage those affected from using their voice. Regardless of how it is used, gaslighting is a manipulative form of control.
